We’ve transformed a traditional 7-Layer Bar dessert into delicious Magic Bar Rice Krispie Treats that are packed with chocolate, butterscotch, and coconut flavors and super easy to make. Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons Butters (Sweet Cream, Salted)
  • 8 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 8 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 1/2 cup Flaked Coconut
  • 1/2 cup Butterscotch Chips
  • 1/2 cup Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips

Instructions

    1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan on medium-low heat.
    2. Add the Mini Marshmallows to the melted butter and on medium-low heat, stir the mixture until the marshmallows are completely melted, and then take the pan off the heat.
    3. Add the Rice Krispie Cereal to the marshmallow mixture and gently fold the Rice Krispie Cereal into the marshmallow mixture.
    4. Add the coconut, butterscotch chips, and chocolate chips to the mixture and fold them together.
    5. Spoon the mixture into a 9x13" pan.  (We line the pan with a piece of parchment paper to make removing the treats from the pan easier when they are cooled.)
    6. Lightly press the mixture into the pan.
    7. OPTIONAL: Sprinkle a few more butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, and coconut flakes onto the top of the treats and press them down slightly.
    8. Let the Rice Krispie Treats cool in the pan.
    9. Remove the treats from the pan and then cut them into squares.

Notes

Storing/Freezing Instructions
Rice Krispie Treats will last 2-3 days at room temperature in an air-tight container before they start to get stale.  You can extend that timeline a few days if you store them in the refrigerator and then take them out about 30 minutes before you eat them.  They freeze up great though and that is what we do if we want to make these ahead of time for a party or a family gathering.  They defrost very quickly and taste great once they are defrosted.  You can keep them in the freezer for up to a couple of months.
