Looking for an easy, no-bake treat? These Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispie Treats are the perfect combination of sweet and salty, with chunks of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in every bite. Try this recipe today - your taste buds (and family) will thank you!

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Salted Sweet Cream Butter
  • 8 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup Peanut Butter (creamy)
  • 8 cups Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 30 Miniature Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (rough chopped & frozen)
  • 1/4 cup Peanut Butter
  • 1/4 cup Chocolate Chips (Milk or Semi Sweet)

Instructions

  1. Rough chop the Miniature Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and then put them in the freezer for 3-4 hours or overnight. Do not skip this step or the peanut butter cup pieces will melt into the warm Rice Krispie Treat mixture when you add them.
  2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan on medium-low heat.
  3. Add the Mini Marshmallows to the melted butter.
  4. Stir the marshmallows so they are completely covered in butter.
  5. On medium-low heat, stir the marshmallows continually until they are completely melted. When the marshmallows are melted, take the pan off the heat.
  6. Add the Peanut Butter to the marshmallow mixture. Stir until thoroughly combined.
  7. Add the Rice Krispies cereal to the peanut butter mixture.
  8. Fold together until the cereal is covered in the peanut butter marshmallow mixture.
  9. Add the frozen Peanut Butter Cup pieces into the Rice Krispie Treat mixture and fold them together.
  10. Spoon the mixture into a 9×13″ pan that has been lightly greased with butter.
  11. Lightly press the mixture into the pan.  You don’t want to press the mixture down too compactly, just smooth the top with a spatula or butter your fingers and pat down the top.
  12. Let the Rice Krispie Treats cool.
  13. Place the 1/4 cup of peanut butter into a plastic bag and melt in the microwave. Not too much, you just want the peanut butter to be warm enough so you can drizzle it over the pan of treats. Cut off a corner of the plastic bag, and drizzle the peanut butter onto the treats.
  14. Place the 1/4 cup of chocolate chips into a plastic bag and melt in the microwave. Cut off a corner of the plastic bag, and drizzle the melted chocolate onto the treats.
  15. Allow the chocolate and peanut butter drizzle to cool
  16. Remove the treats from the pan and then cut them into squares.

Notes

Storing/Freezing Instructions
Rice Krispie Treats will last 2-3 days at room temperature in an air-tight container before they start to get stale.  You can extend that timeline a few days if you store them in the refrigerator and then take them out about 30 minutes before you eat them.  They freeze up great though and that is what we do if we want to make these ahead of time for a party or a family gathering.  They defrost very quickly and taste great once they are defrosted.  You can keep them in the freezer for up to a couple of months.
