Potato Chip Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients

  • 7 tablespoons Butter (We use Sweet Cream Salted Butter)
  • 7 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 7 cups Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 2 cups Potato Chips (Lightly Crushed)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan on medium-low heat.
  2. Add 6 cups of the Mini Marshmallows to the melted butter and on medium-low heat, stir the mixture until the marshmallows are completely melted.
  3. When the marshmallows are melted, take the pan off the heat.
  4. Add the Rice Krispie Cereal to the marshmallow mixture and gently fold the Rice Krispie Cereal into the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Add 1 cup of Mini Marshmallows and 2 cups of the Potato Chips into the bowl and fold until combined.
  6. Spoon the mixture into a 9x13" pan.  (We line the pan with a piece of parchment paper to make it easier to remove the treats from the pan when they are cooled.)
  7. Lightly press the mixture into the pan. 
  8. Sprinkle the top with a few more crushed Potato Chips. (Optional)
  9. Let the Rice Krispie Treats cool in the pan.
  10. Remove the treats from the pan and then cut them into squares.

Notes

Storing/Freezing Instructions
Rice Krispie Treats will last 2-3 days at room temperature in an air-tight container before they start to get stale.  You can extend that timeline a few days if you store them in the refrigerator and then take them out about 30 minutes before you eat them.  They freeze up great though and that is what we do if we want to make these ahead of time for a party or a family gathering.  They defrost very quickly and taste great once they are defrosted.  You can keep them in the freezer for up to a couple of months.
