Ingredients

  • 9 cups Rice Krispie Treat Cereal
  • 9 tablespoons Butter (Sweet Cream, Salted)
  • 9 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring - Red, Yellow, Blue
  • Small Christmas Cookie Cutters

Instructions

You will need to make three batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture – one for each of the three colors of the Merry Christmas Rice Krispie Treats: Red, Green and White

  1. For each batch of Rice Krispie Treats, melt 3 tablespoons Butter in a medium pan.
  2. Add 3 cups of Mini Marshmallows and stir until the marshmallows are completely melted.
  3. Take the pan off the heat.
  4. Add food coloring and mix.
  5. Add 3 cups of Rice Krispie Cereal and mix until they are completely covered with the marshmallow mixture.
  6. Allow the Rice Krispie Mixture to cool slightly.
  7. For each layer pour the Rice Krispie Treat mixture into a large cookie sheet.
  8. Flatten the mixture into a strip that fills approximately 1/3 of a large cookie sheet.
  9. Repeat the process for the other two colors of Rice Krispie Treat Mixture.
  10. Cut the Rice Krispie Treats into squares.  Make sure that the squares are big enough for the Christmas cookie cutters that you are going to use.
  11. Pick two squares to make your first pair of Merry Christmas Rice Krispie Treats.
  12. Pick a Christmas Cookie Cutter and make a cut-out on each square.
  13. Now switch the cut-outs and put them back in the squares.  The Merry Christmas Rice Krispie Treats are sticky from the marshmallows so you will be able to push the shapes back together.
  14. Allow the Rice Krispie Treats to cool before you store them.
