These Buttermilk Drop Biscuits are just as light and fluffy taste as homemade but you can make them in a fraction of the time. (And no rolling pin required!)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Butter (Cold, Cubed Sweet Cream Salted)
  • 3/4 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 large Egg

Instructions

  1. Add the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt to a mixing bowl and mix until combined.
  2. Add the very cold cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your hands, mix the butter into the flour into it is combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and the buttermilk until combined.
  4. Add the buttermilk/egg mixture to the flour.
  5. Stir the drop biscuit dough only until the flour and the liquid are combined.  Do not over stir!
  6. In the bowl, gently knead the dough 5-6 times until a ball forms. Do not over knead.
  7. Use a spoon to drop equal portions of the biscuit dough onto a prepared cookie sheet. (We used parchment paper.). You should get approximately 12 biscuits.
  8. Bake the biscuits in an oven preheated to 425 degrees for approximately 10 minutes. The biscuits are ready when the outside of the biscuits are slightly golden brown on the top.
  9. For a little something extra, brush melted butter on the top of the biscuits as soon as you remove them from the oven. Delish!
