Ingredients

  • 8 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 8 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 8 tablespoons Butter (Sweetcream, Salted)
  • 1/4 cup Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring
  • Easter Bunny Peeps Cookie Cutter

Instructions

For each color batch of Rice Krispie Treat Easter Bunny Peeps you make you will need 2 tablespoons of butter, 2 cups of marshmallows, and 2 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal.  We made Blue, Yellow, Pink, and Purple Rice Krispie Treat Peeps. Use the following directions:

  1. Melt the butter in a large pan on medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until melted.
  2. To tint the Rice Krispie Treat mixture, add food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture before you add the Rice Krispie cereal.
  3. We made one color of the Rice Krispie Treat mixture at a time because you don’t want the mixture to cool too much while you are making the Rice Krispie Treat Easter Bunny Peeps.  Once the mixture had cooled enough so we could handle it without burning our fingers we started filling the Peeps cookie cutters to form our Peeps. Pop the Peep out of the cookie-cutter and make another one. Easy Peasy.
  4. As a final touch, use mini Chocolate Chip Cookies to make a little Easter Bunny face. We used two for the eyes and one for the nose.
