These Magic Bars are five levels of ooey-gooey cookie bar goodness ... a sweet filling topped with coconut, nuts, and chocolate sitting on a buttery graham cracker crust. Delicious and so easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Butter (melted)
  • 1 1/2 cups Graham Cracker Crumbs
  • 1 14 oz. can Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 1/3 cups Flaked Coconut
  • 1/2 cup Nuts (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Pour Graham Cracker crumbs into a gallon plastic bag.  Add melted butter.  Close the bag and massage the crumbs until they are thoroughly coated with the butter.
  2. Pour the Graham Cracker crumbs into a  9x13 pan lined with parchment paper.  If you don't have parchment paper, spray the pan with cooking spray.
  3. Press the Graham Cracker mixture into the pan.
  4. Make sure the Graham Cracker crust goes all the way out to the edges of the pan.
  5. Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the graham crackers crust.
  6. Sprinkle the chocolate chips in an even layer over the crust.
  7. Sprinkle the coconut over the chocolate chips.
  8. Sprinkle the nuts over the coconut.
  9. Sprinkle a handful of chocolate chips over the nuts and then lightly press the chocolate chips and nuts down with a spatula or the back of a spoon.  Don't press down too hard you don't want to break the graham cracker crust.
  10. Bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 25 minutes.  The bars should be lightly browned on top.  Check the bars after 20 minutes, if they are browning too fast cover the pan with foil and continue baking.
  11. Cool the bars completely and then cut into bars.  Enjoy!

Notes

Ingredient Notes

  • Graham Crackers: You will need 1 1/2 cups of Graham Cracker crumbs for the bottom crust of the Magic Bars.  This is approximately 13 sheets of graham cracker or 1 1/2 packages.)
  • Chocolate Chips: We use Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips but you can use Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate if that is what you have on hand.
  • Nuts: Any kind of nuts will work with this cookie bar.  We typically use Walnuts or Pecans but Almonds or even Peanuts would work too.

Do Magic Bars need to be refrigerated?
No. Although they do have Sweetened Condensed Milk as an ingredient, you don't need to worry about refrigerating the bars once they have been baked.

How do you store Magic Bars?
Allow the bars to cool completely before you store them. Place them in an air-tight container and they will be fresh for 3-4 days at room temperature. They will be good in the freezer, for up to 3 months.
