If you are looking for a delicious party appetizer that you can make in less than 30 minutes, this Classic Bruschetta recipe is for you. Featuring fresh tomatoes, garlic, and basil sitting on a delicious piece of French Bread toast, this recipe is a real crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

  • 5-6 Roma Tomatoes (diced and deseeded)
  • 4-5 Fresh Basil Leaves
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese (shredded)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1 loaf French Bread

Instructions

  1. Slice bread and arrange in a single layer on a cooking sheet.
  2. Cut a garlic clove in half and rub the cut side on each piece of bread. Use a Pastry Brush to lightly cover each bread slice with olive oil.
  3. Put the bread under the broiler or in the Toaster Oven to lightly toast it. Watch it carefully. You don’t want to burn the toast.
  4. Cut and deseed the tomatoes and dice into small pieces and add to a medium-sized bowl.
  5. Chop the basil and add to the tomatoes. Then add the Parmesan cheese. Drizzle in the remaining olive oil and carefully mix together.
  6. Remove the lightly toasted French Bread from the oven and scoop the tomato mixture onto the bread. Top bruschetta with salt and pepper and serve.

Notes

Ingredient Notes:

Bread: For a perfect bite-sized appetizer, we like to use the Freshly Baked Long French Bread Baguettes from the Bakery section in the grocery store.

Tomatoes: The better the tomatoes, the better the Bruschetta.  We use On-the-Vine Roma Tomatoes.

Cheese: Classic Bruschetta tastes best with freshly grated Parmesan Cheese. But in a pinch, you could use some from pre-grated packages that you can find in the cheese section of the grocery store.

Basil: You really are going to want Fresh Basil for this recipe, dried is just not going to taste as good.
