Ingredients

Casserole

  • 1 loaf French Bread
  • 8 large Eggs
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon

Streusel Topping

  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Butter (cold)
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon

Maple Syrup Icing

  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Butter (melted)
  • 2 teaspoons Maple Syrup
  • 1-2 tablespoons Milk

Instructions

  1. Add the eggs to a large mixing bowl and whisk together.
  2. Add the Granulated Sugar, Vanilla, and Cinnamon to the bowl. Mix until combined.
  3. Add the Milk and Whipping Cream and continue to whisk together.
  4. Set the egg mixture aside.
  5. Cut the French Bread loaf into equal-sized pieces.
  6. Add the bread to a bowl.
  7. Pour in the egg mixture and mix until the bread pieces are completely covered.
  8. Allow the bread to soak in the egg mixture for approximately 10 minutes.
  9. In a small bowl, add the cold butter, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  10. Mix with a Pastry Cutter or a fork until the dry ingredients are combined with the butter for the streusel topping.
  11. Prepare a 9x13" baking dish with baking spray.
  12. Pour the bread mixture into the baking dish and then sprinkle the streusel over the top of the bread.  Bake in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
  13. While the casserole is in the oven, make the Maple Syrup Icing. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in the microwave.  Add 2 cups of powdered sugar and stir until mixed.  Add 2 teaspoons of maple syrup.
  14. Then add some milk, 1 tablespoon at a time until the icing is the right consistency.
  15. If you feel like the icing needs a little bit more maple syrup flavoring, replace some of the milk with more Maple Syrup.
  16. Drizzle the icing on the French Toast Casserole right before you serve it.
