This Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes recipe is the version of creamy homemade mashed potatoes that we serve to our guests every Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Super easy to make and absolutely delicious to eat!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 pounds Russet Potatoes (approximately 8 medium potatoes)
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1/4 cup Melted Butter (Sweet Cream Salted)
  • 1 head Roasted Garlic
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Roast the garlic.  (You can find the detailed instructions here.). Once cooled, remove the cloves of garlic from the paper wrappers and smash with a fork.  Set aside.
  2. Wash and peel the potatoes.
  3. Cut the peeled potatoes into equal sized chunks.
  4. Place potatoes in a large pot and cover the potatoes with water.  (Add a little bit of salt to the water)
  5. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat.  Simmer the potatoes until they are tender.
  6. While the potatoes are cooking, melt the butter in a small pan.  Add the milk and cream and stir as the milk warms up but does not come to a boil.  Take the milk off the heat, add the smashed Roasted Garlic and mix.
  7. Drain the water from the potatoes and place the cooked potatoes into a bowl.
  8. Smash the potatoes with a fork or a potato masher.
  9. Add the Roasted Garlic, Butter and Milk mixture to the potatoes.
  10. Stir with a spoon until combined. (If you want a smoother mashed potato, use a hand mixer.)
  11. Salt and Pepper to taste.
  12. Serve immediately.
