Our Homemade Applesauce recipe is super simple to make but so yummy.  You'll only need three ingredients to make a comforting bowl of sweet apple deliciousness.

Ingredients

  • 5 Granny Smith Apples
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and core the apples.
  2. Cut them into similar size pieces and place them in a medium sized pan.  Squeeze lemon on the apples to keep them from turning brown.
  3. Add water to the pan.
  4. Cover the pot and simmer on medium low heat, stirring frequently, until apples are tender (about 6 -10 minutes) and then add the sugar.
  5. Continue cooking about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. We like our apple sauce chunky but if you wanted it smooth you could use an immersion blender to breakdown the apple sauce after you remove it from the stove.
  7. If you like a little more flavor, add the Cinnamon and mix until combined.
