Ingredients

  • 1 Large Box of Kellogg's Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 2 16 oz. Bags of Mini Marshmallows or (3 10 oz. Bags)
  • 2 Sticks of Butter (We use Sweet Cream Salted Butter)
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring - Red, Blue, Pink

Instructions

Make three batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture- one in red, one in white, one in blue. For detailed instructions on how to make the Rice Krispie Treat mixture, check out our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe. Red Layer 5 Cup of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (5 Tbsp. Butter/5 Cups Marshmallows/5 Cups Cereal) White Purple Layer 5 cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (5 Tbsp. Butter/5 Cups Marshmallows/5 Cups Cereal) Blue Layer 3 cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal)

  1. Make the red and white Krispie Treat mixture in the measurements outline above. Pressed the Rice Krispie Treat mixture into two cookie sheets (make sure they are the same size) in a thin layer. Let them set for approximately 15-30 minutes.
  2. Cut the two sheets of Rice Krispie Treats into three equal pieces. Each of these will be a "stripe" in the flag.
  3. Layer 2 white and 2 red strips of Rice Krispie Treat mixture, alternating colors and starting with a red layer.
  4. Cut the remaining red and white Rice Krispie Treat sheets in half again. Layer three of these "half" pieces (red/white/red) to make the stripes that appear to the right of the blue area of the flag. Place this stack on top of the other stack on the right hand side.
  5. Make a batch of blue Rice Krispie Treats (see amount above.) Let it cool for about 5-10 minutes.
  6. Buttered your fingers and molded the blue Rice Krispie Treats mixture into the open area of our 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats.
  7. Once the Rice Krispie Treat mixture was completely cool we used a hot butcher knife to cut our 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats Flags.
  8. We trimmed off a little bit on the left and right edges and that's all there was to it!
