Our Conversation Hearts Rice Krispie Treats are a classic dessert transformed into a classic Valentine's Day Candy. Easy to make and so yummy to eat.

Ingredients

  • 10 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 10 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 10 tablespoons Butter (Sweet Cream, Salted)
  • Blue Food Coloring
  • Pink Food Coloring
  • Red Food Coloring
  • Yellow Food Coloring
  • 1/2 batch Best Buttercream Frosting (or Royal Icing if your prefer)
  • Heart Cookie Cutter

Instructions

  1. For each color batch you will need 2 tablespoons of butter, 2 cups of mini marshmallows and 2 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal. Melt the butter in a large pan on medium heat.  Add the marshmallows and stir until melted.
  2. For the White batch, mix in the 2 cups of Rice Krispie Cereal to the marshmallow mixture without adding any food coloring.
  3. For the colored batches, we made Rice Krispie Treat mixture in Purple, Green, Pink and Yellow.
  4. Once the mixture had cooled slightly fill the heart cookie cutter with Rice Krispie mixture.
  5. Pop the treat out of the cookie-cutter and make another one until you run out of the mixture.
  6. Once we had created all of the heart Rice Krispie Treats, we allowed them to cool and then used icing to pipe on the "conversation hearts" sayings like: Be Mine, XOXO, Marry Me, My Baby and Awesome!

Notes

For us, 2 cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture made 5 hearts but your yield will depend on the size of your cookie cutters.
