These Red White and Blue Firecracker Rice Krispie Treats are a tasty and easy to make patriotic dessert for 4th of July or Memorial Day.

Ingredients

  • 9 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 9 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 9 tablespoons Butter (Sweet Cream, Salted)
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring System - Red
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring System - Blue
  • Wilton Color Right Food Coloring System - Pink

Instructions

You will need to make three batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture - a Red, White and Blue layer.

Directions for a single layer for the Rice Krispie Treats

  1. Melt 3 tbsp. Butter in a medium pan.
  2. Add 3 cups of Mini Marshmallows and stir until the marshmallows are completely melted.
  3. Take the pan off the heat.
  4. Add food coloring and mix.
  5. Add 3 cups of Rice Krispie Cereal and mix until they are completely covered with the marshmallow mixture.
  6. Allow the Rice Krispie Mixture to cool slightly.
  7. For each layer pour the Rice Krispie Treat mixture into a large cookie sheet.
  8. Flatten the mixture into a 4” row.
  9. Follow the above directions for each of the three colors.
  10. To assemble the Rice Krispe Treats:Once all three layers have cooled, stack the layers of Rice Krispie Treats. Blue on the bottom, then white and then red.
  11. Cut the stack of Rice Krispie Treats down the middle length-wise and then stack them again. You will now have six layers.
  12. Slice the 6 layer loaf into 1 inch slices.
  13. Then we cut each slice into two pieces to create the Firecracker Rice Krispie Treats sticks.

Notes

Food Coloring Formulas for Rice Krispie Treat mixture
Red: 6 drops of Red Food Coloring
Blue: 8 drops of Blue Food Coloring/2 drops of Pink Food Coloring/1 drop of Red Food Coloring
White: No Food Coloring
