Santa Hat Cookies Cups are a fun take on a sugar cookie with frosting. We have all the directions you'll need to make this adorable Christmas Cookie.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Make a batch or our The Best Sugar Cookie Recipe.
  2. Add Red Food Coloring to the finished Sugar Cookie dough.  Roll out the cookie dough as you would for traditional sugar cookies, however you want the rolled out dough to be on the thinner side.  Use a round cookie cutter to cut out some circles.
  3. Lay the cookie dough circles onto the top of an opening in a mini muffin tin.  Press the center of the cookie dough down and mold it around the inside of the cup of the muffin tin.
  4. Bake the cookie cups in a 350 degree oven for 6-8 minutes.  You don't want the edges or the outside of the cookie cup to get too dark so watch the cookies carefully and take them out before they start browning.
  5. Let the cookie cups cool completely.
  6. Next make up a batch of our Best Buttercream Frosting.   Put aside 1/4 of the frosting.  You'll use this white batch for the "fur" on the Santa Hat.  Tint the rest red with Americolor Super Red Food Coloring.
  7. Using a pastry bag and a Wilton 1M frosting tip, swirl in a some red butter cream frosting - this is the "hat".
  8. Using the white frosting you set aside and the same Wilton 1M decorating tip.  Create a circle of frosting flowers around the red frosting hat.
  9. And finally, add a dab of white frosting for the top of the Santa Hat.
