Step 2:  Gather your green M&M’s.  We decorated these chocolate cookies with green M&M’s for some St. Patrick’s Day fun.  You could pull the green M&M’s out of a regular bag of M&M’s but these Dark Chocolate Mint M&M’s are now available year round so why not use them?  There are three different shades of green and they feature a tasty blend of Dark Chocolate and Mint.  Yum!  We found them in the candy aisle of our grocery store.

Baking Instructions

Step 3: Take a spoonful of cookie dough and roll it into a ball and then slightly press down the cookie dough ball (we used about 1.5 oz. of cookie dough for each cookie.)
Step 4: Press the Mint M&M’s onto the cookie dough ball. This will allow the colorful M&M’s to show up on the top of the baked St Patrick’s Day Mint M&M Cookies.  Bake the cookies in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 9-11 minutes.  Allow the cookies to cool.

Expert Tips & FAQs

Why did my M&M’s crack?

Don’t worry about any broken M&M’s. This happens when the M&M candies start to cool when you take them out of the oven – totally normal. The cookies still taste great and the cracks give them character!

How long will the cookies stay fresh?

These cookies should be stored in an airtight container. And they will stay fresh longer if they are completely cool before you pack them up. We usually add a layer of parchment paper between each row of cookies in our plastic container. They will stay fresh at room temperature for 2-3 days if you store them correctly in an air-tight container. They will last up to 3 months in the freezer.
