Step 4: Add the Rice Krispie Cereal to the marshmallow mixture.
Step 5: Gently fold the Rice Krispie Cereal into the marshmallow mixture.

A Note about the M&M’s – stick the bag in the freezer the night before you make these treats. If you don’t freeze the M&M’s the chocolate will melt and the M&M’s will break as you stir them into the warm Rice Krispie Treats mixture and the treats won’t turn out as pretty.

Step 6: Save 1/4 cup of Spring Pastel M&M’s for the top of the Rice Krispie Treats and then pour the rest of the M&M’s into the Rice Krispie Treat mixture along with 1 cup of Mini Marshmallows.
Step 7: Fold the mixture until the Spring Pastel M&M’s and the Mini Marshmallows are thoroughly incorporated.

Rice Krispie Treats will last 2-3 days at room temperature in an air-tight container before they start to get stale.  You can extend that timeline a few days if you store them in the refrigerator and then take them out about 30 minutes before you eat them.  They freeze up great though and that is what we do if we want to make these ahead of time for a party or a family gathering.  They defrost very quickly and taste great once they are defrosted.  You can keep them in the freezer for up to a couple of months.
