Ingredients You Will Need
How to Make the Marshmallow Mixture
Step 1: Melt the butter in a large saucepan on medium-low heat.
Step 2: Add the Mini Marshmallows to the melted butter and on medium-low heat, stir the mixture until they are completely melted.
Step 3: When the marshmallows are melted, take the pan off the heat.
Adding the Maple Flavor and the Rice Krispie Cereal
Steps 4-5: Add the Mapeliene flavoring to the marshmallow mixture and stir until combined.
Steps 6-7: Add the Rice Krispie Cereal to the marshmallow mixture and gently fold the Rice Krispie Cereal into the marshmallow mixture.
Assembly Instructions
Step 8: Spoon the mixture into a 9×13″ pan. (We line the pan with a piece of parchment paper to make it easier to remove the treats from the pan when they are cooled.)
Step 9: Lightly press the mixture into the pan and then let the Rice Krispie Treats cool in the pan.
Steps 10-11: Remove the treats from the pan and then cut them into squares.
Serving/Storage Instructions
Rice Krispie Treats will last 2-3 days at room temperature in an air-tight container before they start to get stale. You can extend that timeline a few days if you store them in the refrigerator and then take them out about 30 minutes before you eat them. They freeze up great though and that is what we do if we want to make these ahead of time for a party or a family gathering. They defrost very quickly and taste great once they are defrosted. You can keep them in the freezer for up to a couple of months.
