Grinch Hearts Rice Krispie Treats
Our Grinch Hearts Rice Krispie Treats are an easy to make and super delicious treat for your How the Grinch Stole Christmas family movie night.
Well, in Whoville they say … “That the Grinch’s small heart Grew three sizes that day!” And then he understood the true meaning of Christmas. We don’t know if our Grinch Hearts Rice Krispie Treats represent the true meaning of Christmas but they sure are delicious.
The base for our Firecracker Rice Krispie Treats is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted. You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here.
You will need to make two batches of Rice Krispie Treats – one will be Grinch Green and one will be red. For each batch of Rice Krispie Treats you will need 3 tablespoons of butter, 3 cups of marshmallows and 3 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal.
Turn off the heat and add the food coloring to color the marshmallow mixtures red and green. We used the Red Wilton Color Right Food Coloring to get this deep red color. To make the pretty Grinch Green, first color the marshmallow mixture yellow and then add the tiniest drop of blue.
Add the Rice Krispie Cereal and gently stir until it is completely covered with the colored marshmallow mixture. Pour the Rice Krispie Treat mixture onto a lightly buttered cookie sheet.
Press the pink Rice Krispie Treat mixture into the cookie sheet and let the Rice Krispie Treats cool for 5-10 minutes. For us, each batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture took up about 1/2 of a large cookie sheet.
Use a heart cookie cutter to cut out red and green hearts out of the Rice Krispie Treat mixture. Use a medium sized heart to cut out 1 red heart for each Grinch Hearts Rice Krispie Treats pop. Use the smaller heart cookie cutter to cut-out two green hearts for each Grinch Hearts Rice Krispie Treats pop.
We pressed two of the small green Rice Krispie Treat hearts onto the lollipop stick with a Mini Marshmallow between them.
Finally we added another Mini Marshmallow and a medium red Rice Krispie Treat Heart.
Aren’t these adorable? … His heart grew three sizes that day!!!
These Grinch Rice Krispie Treat Hearts would be the perfect Holiday Treat for a How the Grinch Stole Christmas family movie night! It’s not quite Who-Pudding but we think your family will still be impressed! (And if you are looking for this adorable Grinch plush you can find it here!)
