Frozen Frosted Sugar Cookies
For Nancy and I, one little thing can spark some great ideas. Earlier in the year, when we were looking for a cookie cutter for our NFL jerseys, we found a wedding dress cookie cutter. As soon as we saw it, we knew we could use it for some fun princess project. We ended up with 2 fun princess projects. The first one are these Frozen Frosted Sugar Cookies. They were fairly easy to do and turned out very pretty. Stay tuned for our second project!

How to Make an Elsa Frosted Sugar Cookies
Next you will need to prepare some of our Best Buttercream Frosting (you will find the recipe and detailed directions here.) To create the two shades of Elsa blue, we used Americolor Sky Blue and Royal Blue Food Coloring in the following amounts:
- Light Blue – 1 1/2 Drops of Sky Blue Food Coloring
- Dark Blue – 3 Drops of Sky Blue Food Coloring and 1 Drop of Royal Blue Food Coloring
Finally we made some homemade sparkling sugar in the same blue Elsa colors. This sparkling sugar so easy to make, we’ll never buy store bought colored sugar again. You can find the detailed instructions for making this sparking sugar here. We used Americolor Sky Blue and Royal Blue Food Coloring in the following amounts:
- Light Blue – 1/2 Drop of Sky Blue Food Coloring
- Dark Blue – 2 Drops of Sky Blue Food Coloring and 1 Drop of Royal Blue Food Coloring
To decorate the Elsa Frosted Sugar Cookie dress we piped on two lines of the light blue frosting on the skirt portion of the cookie, coming straight down from the waist. Then we filled in the outside area of the skirt with the light blue frosting. Using a knife we smoothed out the buttercream frosting and then sprinkled on some of our light blue sparkling sugar onto the frosting.
Next, we tapped off the extra light blue sparkling sugar and patted down the light blue sparkling sugar into the frosting to smooth out the surface of the frosting. The we filled in the remaining area of the cookie with the darker blue frosting. Again, using a knife, we smoothed out the dark blue frosting. We sprinkled some of the dark blue sparkling sugar onto the dark blue frosting. And finally, we applied some Wilton White Sugar Pearls to the top of the dress and at the waist of the dress for a little embellishment.
Our Anna Frosted Sugar Cookies turned out so beautifully. These cookies would be a great party favor thank-you present for your Frozen party guests.
How to Make Anna Frosted Sugar Cookies
For the Anna Frosted Sugar Cookies you will again need a batch of our Best Buttercream Frosting (you will find the recipe and detailed directions here.) To create the blue and pink Anna colors, we used Americolor Food Coloring in the following amounts:
- Pink – 2 drops of Super Pink, 2 drops of Americolor Fushia and 1 very tiny drop of Americolor Navy food coloring.
- Blue – 3 drops of the Royal Blue food coloring and 1 drop of Navy food coloring
We also make homemade sparkling sugar in Anna blue and pink. You can find the detailed instructions for making this sparking sugar here. We used Americolor Food Coloring in the following amounts:
- Pink – 1 drop of Super Pink, 1 drop of Americolor Fushia and 1 very tiny drop of Americolor Navy food coloring.
- Blue – 2 drops of the Royal Blue food coloring and 1 small drop of Navy food coloring
To decorate the Anna Frosted Sugar Cookie dress we piped on two lines of pink frosting on the outside of the skirt portion of the cookie. Then we filled in the outside area of the skirt with pink frosting. Using a knife we smoothed out the pink buttercream frosting. Then we sprinkled some of our pink sparkling sugar onto the pink frosting and then carefully tapped off the extra sparkling sugar, finally patting down the pink sugar into the frosting a bit.
Next we filled in the rest of the dress cookie with the blue frosting. Using a knife we smoothed out the blue frosting and then sprinkled some of the blue sparkling sugar onto the blue frosting. We applied some Wilton White Sugar Pearls to the top of the dress and to the waist. Finally, using green and pink frosting we piped the flower design from the bottom of Ann’a dress and some green lines on the bodice of the dress.
We love these Anna Frosted Sugar Cookies! So beautiful and colorful – we think we came up with a pretty good representation of Anna’s iconic dress. And decorating these Frozen Frosted Sugar Cookies were a lot easier than we thought they were going to be. They will look great on the Frozen Party Dessert Table.
