Frozen Elsa Rice Krispie Treats
As we said in an earlier post, one little thing can spark great ideas for Nancy and I. We bought this dress cookie cutter and we knew we could use it for a lot of fun things. The first thing we made were the Elsa & Anna Dress Frosted Sugar Cookies. Our second project were these fun Frozen Elsa’s Rice Krispie Treats. I would be hard pressed to pick my favorite project. The base for our Elsa Rice Krispie Treats is our Best Ever Rice Krispie Treat Recipe which we have adjusted and perfected over the years until it is now absolutely the best Rice Krispie Treat recipe we have ever tasted. You can find all the directions you’ll need to make these delicious treats right here.
For the Rice Krispie Treats mixture you will need 5 tablespoons of butter, 5 cups of marshmallows and 5 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal.
To make the marshmallow mixture the light aqua blue color from Anna’s dress – use Americolor Sky Blue along with a much a smaller amount of Royal Blue. For the marshmallow mixture in this picture we used approximately 3 drops of the Sky Blue vs. 1 drop of the Royal Blue.
The 5-cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture filled out about 75% of a large cookie sheet. I pressed the mixture into the cookie sheet until it was evenly dispersed. I did this for both the Anna blue and Elsa blue batches. The height of the layer is only about 1/2 of the cookie sheet depth.
We used this wedding dress cookie cutter to cutout the Anna & Elsa Rice Krispie Treats. We bought this on Amazon but we’ve seen it at Michael’s too.
Here are our Elsa’s Dress Rice Krispie Treats, ready to be decorated.
We used Royal Icing to to decorate the Anna & Elsa Rice Krispie Treats dresses. Our Royal Icing recipe is very simple – mix 1 box of powdered sugar with 5 tablespoons of meringue powder and slowly add up to 1/2 cup of water until the Royal Icing is the right consistency. To color the Royal Icing for Elsa’s dress you will need Americolor Sky Blue food coloring. This recipe makes quite a bit of Royal Icing so you might want to adjust the measurements depending on how Anna & Elsa Rice Krispie Treats you are making.
To decorate the Elsa Rice Krispie dress we piped on two lines of the light blue royal icing on the skirt portion of the cookie, coming straight down from the waist. Then we filled in the outside area of the skirt with the light blue icing. Then fill in this outside skirt area with the royal icing. We also outlined the top bodice and waist of the dress for some visual interest.
Finally, we added some Sparkling Sugar crystals over the blue royal icing as a finishing touch for Elsa’s Dress Rice Krispie Treats. Our Elsa’s Dress Rice Krispie Treats are so pretty and who doesn’t love a Rice Krispie Treat?
To make the marshmallow mixture the bright blue color from Anna’s dress – use Americolor Royal Blue along with a much a smaller amount of Americolor Navy. For marshmallow mixture in this picture we used approximately 3 drops of the Royal Blue vs. 1 drop of the Navy. The overall color of the Rice Krispie Treats will be much lighter after you add the beige Rice Krispies, so we always make the marshmallow mixture a little darker and/or brighter than we want the final product to ultimately turn out.
To decorate the Anna Frosted Sugar Cookie dress we piped on two lines of pink Royal Icing on the outside of the skirt portion of the cookie. Then we filled in the outside area of the skirt with pink icing.
Finally, using green and pink frosting we piped the flower design from the bottom of Ann’a dress as an adorable finishing touch.
Our Anna’s Dress Rice Krispie Treat was also adorable. These Anna & Elsa Rice Krispie Treats will be an awesome addition to your Frozen Party Dessert Table and they are so easy to make!
