DIY Painted Pine Cones
We have all the directions you’ll need to turn pine cones from your yard into these lovely and easy to make DIY Painted Pine Cones.
Our DIY Painted Pine Cones project came about after a trip to a local home store. My sister and I saw a bag of gorgeous silver painted pine cones that I really wanted to add to my Christmas decoration collection. But you would not believe how expensive they were! I knew we could make some that would be just as pretty as the ones in the store for a fraction of the cost and I sure was right!
A word about the supplies you’ll need – I used Red spray paint with a satin finish and a pretty Brushed Nickel Metallic spray paint from Krylon. Both of the spray paints had primer in them and I am glad they did. I was going for a full coverage look and with the +primer spray paint I only needed a couple of coats on paint to achieve that. I have been collecting the pines cones all year from a pine tree near my house but they sell bags of pine cones at craft stores during the Holidays if you aren’t so lucky. In the picture here you’ll see I also tried white spray paint but I didn’t think those pine cones looked very pretty. I would definitely go with a pretty holiday color or one of these great metallic paints.
The crafting part of this project is super easy — just spray paint the pine cones.
This is how my red pine cones turned out.
And I couldn’t love my brushed nickel pine cones more! They are even prettier than the ones I saw in the store.
These DIY Painted Pines Cones are so pretty. They are going to look great with my red, white and silver Christmas Decoration theme.
And I also think these pretty painted pine cones would be a great DIY Christmas Gift! Next year … glitter!!!
