Frozen Birthday Party Invitations
I’m a freak about invitations for a party. I feel they set the tone for the entire event. I know that is putting a lot of pressure on party invitations, but if you don’t have a clear idea of what your party is going to be how can you send out the perfect invitation? I loved the Mickey Mouse invitations that we did for Allison’s 3rd birthday, so I wanted to make sure the Disney Frozen Invitations were on the same creative level. After searching Pinterest and Google for ideas, I was afraid that wasn’t going to happen. I also really wanted to use my Cricut, but they don’t have any Frozen graphics. After an exhaustive search, I found a Castle card that I thought would be a good platform for our card. I added some sparkly white paper and a picture of Anna and Elsa and I think I achieved my goal – these Disney Frozen Birthday Party Invitations did set the tone for our Frozen Party … BEAUTIFUL!
How to Make Frozen Birthday Party Invitations
You will need:
- Cricut Cutting Machine
- Life’s a Party Cricut Cartridge
- Blue Cardstock
- White Glitter Card stock
- Blue Glitter Card stock
- Vellum paper
- Snowflake Stickers
- Snowflake Punch
- Inkjet Printer
- Glue Dots
- Tacky Glue
- Decorative Edging Scissors
- Regular Scissors
The final supply you will need are the Disney Frozen character images for the Disney Frozen Invitation. We used a picture of Elsa and Anna on the front and a picture of Olaf on inside of the invitation. We were going to print the images on the Inkjet printer but then decided that would be a very expensive option (don’t get us started on the insane price of inkjet ink!!!) so we decided to use Costco’s Online photo service where 4×6 photo copies were only 13 cents each. Laurie used Photoshop to save the images as hi-rez versions with a printable size of 4″ by 6″ (which is 1800 pixels by 1200 pixels at 300 dpi).
We carefully cut out the images from the Costco prints with scissors.
The base of the invitation is the Castle Card from the Life’s a Party Cricut Cartridge. We used the various shades of blue cardstock that we already had on hand to save some money. (We were pretty sure our guests would not be comparing their invitations and notice that not everybody’s was the same shade of blue – although I guess the cat is out of the bag now!) For the front, we added a another castle layer in white sparkly paper – so, so pretty. Finally we used Tacky Glue to attach Elsa and Anna to the front and Olaf to the inside of the card.
We printed the party information on vellum paper on the inkjet printer and cut it out with edging scissors.
We attached the party information vellum piece to the inside of the castle card with glue dots. Then we covered the spot where you could see the glue dots through the vellum with some Snowflake stickers (Thank you, Hobby Lobby, for putting out your Christmas stuff in July!)
Here is the full view of the inside of our invitations – cute isn’t it?
As a last minute final step we glued on some snowflakes that we cut out of blue sparkly card stock with a snowflake punch we bought to make table confetti for the party. It really was the perfect touch to these beautiful Frozen Birthday Party Invitations.
