These bite-sized present-shaped cookies are made with a delicious soft chocolate sugar cookie topped with our creamy homemade Buttercream Frosting. The thanks will come rushing in … we promise!
How to Make the Cookies
Step 1: Make a half-batch of our The Best Chocolate Sugar Cookie Recipe. This Chocolate Sugar Cookie dough is easy to work with, tastes great, and really holds its shape during the baking process. You can find the recipe and detailed instructions on how to make the dough here. We made a half-batch of our Best Chocolate Sugar Cookie Recipe and ended up with 100 mini cookies that were approximately 1 inch in size.
Step 2: We used a small rectangle cookie cutter to cut out our Christmas Chocolate Sugar Cookie Bites but you could also cut the dough into strips and then cut the strips into a rectangle present shape.
Steps 3-4: Bake in a 350-degree oven for 4-5 minutes. Check on the cookies at the 4-minute mark, because they are so small you don’t want to overbake them. Allow the cookies to cool completely before frosting them.
Making the Buttercream Frosting
Step 4: Make a batch of our Best Buttercream Frosting Recipe. We split this batch into three bowls. One bowl with 2/3rds of the frosting and the rest of the frosting split into the other two bowls. We colored one of the small batches green and the other small batch red. You can find our Christmas Frosting Food Coloring Guide here!
Decorating the Cookies
Step 5: Now the fun begins. No fancy decorating skills needed. Use a knife to spread the yummy buttercream frosting onto the cookie bites.
Step 6: Place the red and green frosting into decorating bags with a small round decorating tip and add some pretty frosting ribbon and bows to your Christmas Present cookies. Easy peasy.
Step 7: If you don’t have time this year for Decorating Christmas Cookies try making these fun and delicious Mini Chocolate Sugar Cookies instead. Your family will thank you over and over again!
