Chocolate M&M Cookies

These Chocolate M&M Cookies are our favorite go-to party cookies. The chocolate cookie base is delicious, soft and fudgy, and not too sweet – everybody always loves them. But once you top them with colorful M&M candies these cookies transform into a real showstopper. The best part is depending on the season you can use any color combination of M&M’s to celebrate a holiday, a birthday, or just a random Tuesday.
How to make the Cookie Dough

Steps 1 & 2: In a separate bowl, mix together the dry ingredients (including the cocoa powder) with a fork or a whisk and set aside.

Step 3: In a second mixing bowl, cream together the butter and white and brown sugars with a mixer.
Step 4: Add the eggs and vanilla and continue to mix until the dough is light and fluffy.
Steps 5 & 6: Add the dry ingredients 1 cup at a time to the cookie dough and mix until they are thoroughly combined.
Baking Instructions

Step 7: To keep the cookies similar in size, measure 2 oz. of dough for each cookie on a food scale. Roll the dough into a ball and put them on a prepared cookie sheet. Randomly press the M&M’s onto the cookie dough ball. This will allow the colorful M&M’s to show up on the top of the baked cookies.
Step 8: Bake the cookies in a preheated 350-degree oven for 9-11 minutes.
Don’t worry about any broken M&M’s. That happens when the M&M candies starts to cool when you take them out of the oven – totally normal. The cookies still taste great and the cracks give them character!
How to Store/Freeze
These cookies should be stored in an airtight container. And they will stay fresh longer if they are completely cool before you pack them up. We usually add a layer of parchment paper between each row of cookies in our plastic container. They will stay fresh at room temperature for 2-3 days if you store them correctly in an air-tight container. They will last up to 3 months in the freezer.
