This Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars recipe takes a classic cookie dough and transforms it into a much easier to bake cookie bar. Same great taste but much less time in the kitchen!

There is a raging debate in our family … which is better, Chocolate Chip Cookies or Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars? This Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar recipe has the same ingredients as its cookie counterpart but it does have a distinct taste all of its own. More cookie center, less cookie crust, we think. One area where it undoubtedly shines is how much easier a cookie bar is to make. So if you are short on time but have a craving for a rich, buttery, chocolate chip cookie this is the recipe for you.

Ingredients You Will Need

All the ingredients needed to make the cookies including chocolate chips, butter, eggs, flour, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, salt and baking soda.

Step 1: Add the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar to a mixing bowl.
Step 2: Cream until light and fluffy.
Step 3: Add one egg and the vanilla and mix until combined. And then add the remaining egg and continue to mix.
Step 4: In a separate bowl, add flour, Baking Soda, salt, and whisk together until combined. Add the flour mixture a bit at a time.

Step 5: Mix the flour with the dough just until it is incorporated into the cookie dough. (Do not overmix.)
Step 6: Stir in the chocolate chips.

Step 7:  No need to refrigerate the dough. You are now ready to get it into the oven to bake.

Baking Instructions

Step 8: Spoon the cookie dough into a 9×13″ baking pan lined with parchment paper.
Step 9: Press the cookie dough down until it is evenly dispersed in the pan. To get a smooth and even cookie bar, we placed a piece of parchment paper over the raw cookie dough in the baking pan and used the back of a measuring cup to even it out in the pan. Two Sisters Tip: Before you put the baking pan in the oven, lightly press a handful of extra chocolate chips into the top of the dough for a prettier cookie top!
Step 10: Bake the cookie bars in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for 22-25 minutes or until golden brown on the top.
Step 11: Allow the Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars to cool before removing them from the pan.

Step 12:  Once cooled, cut into individual cookie bars.

  •  1 cup Softened Butter (Sweet Cream, Salted)
  •  1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  •  1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  •  2 Large Eggs
  •  2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  •  1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  •  1/2 teaspoon Salt
  •  2 3/4 cups of All-Purpose Flour
  •  2 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a mixer.
  2. Add one egg and the vanilla and mix until combined.
  3. Add the remaining egg and continue to mix.
  4. In a separate bowl, add flour, Baking Soda, salt, and whisk together until combined.
  5. Add the flour mixture a bit at a time and mix until it is completely incorporated. (Do not overmix.)
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Spoon the cookie dough into a 9x13" baking pan lined with parchment paper.  Press the cookie dough down until it is evenly dispersed in the pan.
  8. Bake the cookie bars in an oven preheated to 350 degree oven for 22-25 minutes or until golden brown on the top.
  9. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

To get a smooth and even cookie bar, we placed a piece of parchment paper over the raw cookie dough in the baking pan and used the back of a measuring cup to even it out in the pan.
