Step 1:  Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a mixer.  Add the eggs and vanilla and mix until fluffy.  Add the Baking Soda and salt and mix. Add the flour a bit at a time and mix until it is completely incorporated.

Step 2: Separate the cookie dough into three equal portions. (We used a food scale but you can eyeball it if you don’t have one.) Color the cookie dough portions blue, black, and white.  Add 1/3 of the bag of chocolate chips to each portion of dough. We used Wilton Color Right food coloring to color the cookie dough.  Here are the food coloring formulas that we used:

  • Blue – 3 drops of Blue
  • Black – 4 drops of Black
  • White – No Food Coloring

Baking Instructions

Pieces of Blue, Black and White Chocolate Chip Cookie dough arranged in a marble pattern on a food scale.

Step 3: Using a food scale, we measured 2.0 oz. of cookie dough for each cookie.  We randomly added pieces of black, blue, and white cookie dough to the food scale until it weighed 2 ounces.  Sometimes we used more of one color than the others. There is no right or wrong combination. The more random the pieces of dough, the prettier the cookies will be.

Step 4:  Slightly press the cookie balls down onto the cookie sheet before baking and then bake in a 375-degree oven for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
