Captain Crunch Cereal is a guilty pleasure for us … our go-to cereal pick when our mom let us choose a “sugary cereal” when we were kids. So these Cap’n Crunch Marshmallow Treats were definitely on our must-try list when we were working on our Marshmallow Treat recipe series.  And boy, are we ever glad we made them. These super crunchy no-bake treats are so yummy … not too sweet but still chock full of flavor.  Two Thumbs Up on this recipe.  We hope you enjoy them are much as we did!

How to Make the Marshmallow Mixture

Step 1: Slowly melt the butter in a large saucepan on medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
Step 2: Add 6 cups of Mini Marshmallows to the melted butter and fold them together until the marshmallows are covered in the melted butter.
Step 3: Continuing with medium-low heat, stir the mixture continually until the marshmallows are melted, and then remove the pan from the heat.

Adding the Captain Crunch Cereal

Step 4: Add the Cap’n Crunch Cereal to the marshmallow mixture.
Step 5: Fold together until the cereal is completely covered with the marshmallow mixture.
Steps 6-7: Add the remaining 1 cup of Mini Marshmallows and fold until combined.

Assembly Instructions

Step 8: Pour the mixture into a 9×13″ pan. We add a piece of parchment paper to the pan so it will be easier to remove the treats when they are cooled.
Step 9: Lightly press the mixture into the pan and let the treats cool.
Steps 10-11: Use the parchment paper to remove the treats from the pan and then cut them into individual servings.

Storing/Serving Instructions

Marshmallow Treats will last 2-3 days at room temperature in an air-tight container before they start to get stale.  You can extend that timeline a few days if you store them in the refrigerator and then take them out about 30 minutes before you eat them.  They freeze up great though and that is what we do if we want to make these ahead of time for a party or a family gathering.  They defrost very quickly and taste great once they are defrosted.  You can keep them in the freezer for up to a couple of months.

Ingredients

  • 7 tablespoons Butter (We use Sweet Cream Salted Butter)
  • 7 cups Mini Marshmallows
  • 8 cups Cap'n Crunch Cereal

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan on medium-low heat.
  2. Add 6 cups of Mini Marshmallows to the melted butter and on medium-low heat, stir the mixture until the marshmallows are completely melted.
  3. When the marshmallows are melted, take the pan off the heat.
  4. Add the Cap'n Crunch Cereal to the marshmallow mixture and gently fold the cereal into the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Add 1 cup of the Mini Marshmallows to the mixture and fold until combined.
  6. Spoon the mixture into a 9x13" pan.  (We line the pan with a piece of parchment paper to make it easier to remove the treats from the pan when they are cooled.)
  7. Lightly press the mixture into the pan. 
  8. Let the Cap'n Crunch Marshmallow Treats cool in the pan.
  9. Remove the treats from the pan and then cut them into squares.
