Candy Jars

These Candy Jars are another successful Pinterest Inspired project.  The original pin was very Easter specific but I made mine more generic so that I can fill them with all sorts of different holiday candies and have a year-round decoration.

Supplies for Candy Jar Project

I see candlesticks like the ones I used all over the place.  I’ve seen them at Target, Michaels, Home Goods and WalMart but I bought my candlesticks at Ikea.  I found the glass jars and finials at Hobby Lobby.

The candlesticks were originally a dark brown color.  I spray painted them black using with a Krylon Spray Paint that included Primer.

Adding wood disc to candlesticks

Next, I needed a stable base for the candy jar.  I spray painted the round wooden discs the same color of black and when they were dry, glued them to the top of each candlestick with Gorilla Glue.

I spray painted the silver lid of the Candy Jars so that it would match the candlesticks and used the hot glue gun to attach the black finial to the lid of the jar. And I did not glue the jars to the candlesticks because I wanted to be able to run the jars through the dishwasher.  They are just sitting on top of the candlesticks. That’s why adding the wooden disc is so important. It give them some stability.

That’s all there is to making these great Candy Jars.  Except for the fun of figuring out new ways of filling them with candy!
