How to Color the Rice Krispie Treat Mixture
Step 2: You need to make three batches of Rice Krispie Treat mixture in Yellow, Orange, and White.
For the white layer make a 3 Cup batch of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal) but use no Food Coloring.
For the colored layers, we added the food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture BEFORE adding the Rice Krispie Cereal. We used the Yellow and Orange food coloring from the Wilton Color Right Food Coloring system in the following amounts:
Orange Layer
3 cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal)
6 Drops of Orange Food Coloring
Yellow Layer
3 cups of Rice Krispie Treat mixture (3 Tbsp. Butter/3 Cups Marshmallows/3 Cups Cereal)
6 Drops of Yellow Food Coloring
Assembly Instructions
Step 3: Pour the first batch of the Rice Krispie Treat mixture into a lightly buttered large cookie sheet – for us that was yellow. Press down the mixture into the cookie sheet. It should fill approximately 1/3 of the cookie sheet. Do the same thing with the orange Rice Krispie Treat mixture. And finally, repeat the process with the white Rice Krispie Treat mixture. Don’t press the three colors together. Allow the three strips to cool for 5-10 minutes.
Step 4: Remove the Rice Krispie Treats mixture from the cookie sheet and stack them. White on the top, Orange in the middle, and Yellow on the bottom.
Step 5: Cut an approximately 1/2″ strip of Rice Krispie Treats off the stack length-wise. Cut that strip into 1-inch pieces as shown in the picture above.
Step 6: Trim the rectangles into candy corn-shaped triangles. Remember to keep the white layer at the top!
Step 7: Save the Rice Krispie Treat remnants! They make a good snack!
Step 8: Allow the Rice Krispie Treats to cool completely before you store them. These Candy Corn Mini Rice Krispie Treats are so colorful and pretty. What a fun Halloween treat these Candy Corn Treats turned out to be and what a great little special Halloween snack for the kids and adults alike.
