Black and Silver Pumpkins
What started as a simple project has turned into a series entitled “Upscaling Fake Pumpkins.” Okay, I need to work on that title, but you get the idea. Once I did the glitter pumpkins, I decided to try doing different things to take boring fake pumpkins from drab to fabulous. These Black and Silver Pumpkins turned out to be my favorites.
How to Make Black and Silver Pumpkins
Project Supplies:
- Fake Pumpkins – 2 White and 1 Black
- Silver Metallic Craft Paint
- Silver Glitter
- Mod Podge
- Rhinestones or Rhinestone Ribbon
A few years ago when these fake pumpkins starting popping up in craft stores they only came in orange. But now you get find white and black too. This gives a crafter a lot more choices when it comes to decorating and embellishing them. For this big, tall white pumpkin I decided to try a silver metallic craft paint applied with a brush.
Here is the pumpkin with just one coat. It was actually kind of pretty – very subtle but still shimmery. But I wanted a pure silver pumpkin so I continued adding layers of paint – three in all.
Here is the finished Silver pumpkin. Three coats of paint was perfect. You can barely see any brush strokes and the silver metallic paint is very shiny and glimmers in the light. Two thumbs up!
For the second white pumpkin I went for the Full Glitter option. This was super easy to do. I applied a layer of Mod Podge and then sprinkled on the silver glitter. For detailed instructions and pictures please check out my Halloween Glitter Pumpkin post!
This Silver Glitter Pumpkin is gorgeous. I’m not sure that this picture actually does it justice.
The final pumpkin was black. I decided to embellish it with a single piece of Rhinestone Ribbon that Nancy and I found on sale at Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago. We had no idea what we were going to do with it but it is so pretty and was so cheap that we had to buy it. I simply glued the ribbon to the pumpkin around the middle with some tacky glue.
So easy. So beautiful. This Rhinestone Pumpkin was a 10 minute project is is the prettiest pumpkin of the bunch.

These black and silver pumpkins turned out so pretty and I can’t stress this enough – they were so easy to make. I made all three in less than an hour.
I love my Black and Silver Pumpkins. They look beautiful sitting on my mantle. This is definitely my kind of Halloween Decoration!
