Ingredients You Will Need
How to Make the Angel Food Cake
Step 1: Make the Angel Food Cake. We always keep a couple of boxes of Betty Crocker Angel Food Cake Mix in the Two Sisters cupboard. A homemade Angel Food Cake requires 10 egg whites so we only pull out that recipe for REALLY special occasions. You only need water for this box cake version and boy does it taste good! Make the Angel Food Cake batter according to the directions on the box. Pour the angel food cake batter into an ungreased Angel Food Cake pan. Bake in a 350-degree oven until the top is golden brown and the cracks that form are dry to the touch. For us, it is usually around 40 minutes. When you take the cake out of the oven, turn the pan upside onto a bottle or jar to cool. Once fully cooled, take the cake out of the pan.

How to Frost an Angel Food Cake
Step 3: Place the Angel Food Cake on a cake plate.
Step 4: Angel Food cakes have a lot of crumbs, so you’ll need to start with a light “crumb coat” layer of frosting. Don’t worry about how it looks, just get this first layer of frosting on the cake.
Step 5: Add a second, more generous, layer of lemon frosting.
Step 6: Use a piece of parchment paper to press down on the frosting to smooth out the frosting and get rid of the lines from the knife.
Step 7: You can stop here or add a couple more flourishes to up the wow factor.
Step 8: Use a Wilton 2D Decorating Tip to create a ring of frosting flowers around the top edge of the cake.
Step 9: Don’t forget the sprinkles … everything tastes better with sprinkles.
Step 10: Use a serrated bread knife to cut the perfect slice of Angel Food Cake.
