Frozen Chocolate-Covered Bananas
Our easy-to-make Frozen Chocolate-Covered Bananas are perfect for a 4th of July Party, a backyard barbecue, or a hot summer day.
My husband LOVES frozen bananas – he calls them Monkey Tails! I don’t quite get it. They are fine, but his love knows no bounds. When I talked to Laurie about it, we figured we would try recreating this amusement park staple for a 4th of July party. We thought it can’t be hard, and we were right. This ended up being a fairly straightforward process with lots of room for embellishments for any other holiday you can think of. I am happy to say my husband wasn’t disappointed. He loved our Frozen Chocolate-Covered Bananas and we hope you do too.
Ingredients You Will Need
How to Prepare the Bananas
Step 1: Peel the bananas and then cut them in half. Skewer each banana piece with a lollipop stick.
Step 2: Place the bananas on a cookie sheet and freeze them for at least two hours.
How to Cover the Bananas in Chocolate
Steps 3-5: Melt Ghirardelli Chocolate Melting Wafers or Chocolate Chips in the microwave and then use a spoon to cover the frozen banana with the melted chocolate. We left the bottom of the banana uncovered so people could see what it was.
Step 6: Place the chocolate-covered bananas back in the freezer until the chocolate is also frozen.
Decorating the Frozen Bananas
Step 7: If you want to decorate your Frozen Bananas you have a couple of options. One is to drizzle them with melted candy melts. We chose Red White and Blue for the 4th of July. For the candy drizzle, place 15 Wilton Royal Blue, Red, and Bright White Candy Melts in Ziploc bags.
Step 8: Place the plastic bags in the microwave. We started at 40 seconds, took out the bags and massage the candy, and then microwaved them again in 10-second increments until the candy melts were fully melted.
Step 9: Once the candy was melted, we cut the tip off the bag and drizzled the candy over the frozen bananas. Make sure you only cut the very very tip of the bag. You only want a small hole to give yourself more control over the drizzle. Place the decorated Red White and Blue Frozen Bananas back in the freezer until you are ready to serve them.
Steps 10-11: Another decorating option is sprinkles. If you are going to decorate your Frozen Chocolate-Covered Bananas with sprinkles, add the sprinkles as soon as cover them with chocolate and then place them back in the freezer until the chocolate hardens back up.
Other Holiday Decoration Ideas

These are the Halloween Frozen Bananas we made for a kid’s party and they were a huge hit! So grab the bananas and the sprinkles and let your creativity be your guide!
